Lyly Sembiring joined Western Influences International in 2018, bringing experience in designing, implementing and testing administrative systems.
Lyly obtained a Bachelor of Science (Forestry) at University Of North Sumatra. This led to five years with PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), the main pulp and paper subsidiary of Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Limited, or APRIL Group. Operating in Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia, RAPP runs one of the largest pulp mills in the world. With a staff of 100,000, the administrative systems required impeccable control mechanisms and continual quality improvement. As such, APRIL’s operations are certified under OHSAS 18001 (Safety Management Systems), ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), and ISO 14001 (Environment Management Systems).
During that period, Lyly trained with Hirayama Consultant in Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan; is certified in Kaizen; and, is qualified as a Kaizen Project Coordinator. Kaizen (改善) is the Japanese word for "improvement." In business, kaizen refers to activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. It also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organisational boundaries into the supply chain. It has been applied in healthcare, psychotherapy, life-coaching, government, and banking.
As well as reviewing and improving the Western Influences systems, Lyly is available to consult with small, medium and large organisations to continuously quality improve their administrative and other systems too.
Lyly has excellent communication skills, having worked with a variety of international non-government organisations. She is proficient in oral and written English, and can create manuals in both English and Indonesian language.
Lyly is very relationship focused, giving everything of herself to the people and job at hand. She is friendly, loyal and supportive, characteristics that ensure that her clients are delighted with all dealings with her personally and with Western Influences International. As continuous quality improvement is the foundation of Western Influences' work, Lyly is a valuable asset to the Company.
